This is the setting for the account when sending messages via webmail using a browser only which has no effect when sending messages with the account from the iPhone's email client. On my gmail account I have the settings for "send mail as" then I clicked on "always reply from my default address (currently )". Are you using the portion of your email address in front of the sign only or your entire email address as the user name for the incoming mail server? When creating a POP account with the iPhone, 110 is the default port used for the incoming mail server which is the industry standard so this should not be changed for Charter's incoming mail server. Their SMTP server is without authentication and unless you are connected to the internet via Charter with your iPhone, more than likely you will not be able to send messages with Charter's SMTP server since it isn't authenticated.įunny thing is I was able to receive messages with my Mother's Charter email account by using the portion of her email address in front of the sign only as the user name as well as using the entire email address. The SMTP server settings I was provided by Charter indicates they do not have nor support SMTP authentication. The response was they only support webmail access and they kept providing me the same SMTP server settings to use which did not work and refused to acknowledge their SMTP server was down and was not working. I tried contacting Charter technical support by phone, email and online chat which was even more of a joke. Charter's website help information is a joke with different SMTP server settings provided depending on where you look - no consistency. No problems receiving messages but sending was impossible no matter what I tried. I'm no beginner in regards to email account setup and after trying everything I know - using authentication for the SMTP server entering the portion of the email address in front of the sign only in addition to using the entire email address as the user name with no joy. My Mother just sent me an email from her Charter account indicating it was finally working again. The server error encountered was: account is locked by another session or for maintenance, try again."I visited my Mother at Christmas and beginning Christmas Eve day until this morning, Charter's SMTP server was not working/available. "The mail server denied access to the account “Charter” because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in.

The mac IMAP account seems to be working. Here is the error message I received on my mac pop email account (I set up two email accounts - one pop and one IMAP). Note: There is definitely a delay between receiving emails on my mobile (delayed) versus my mac email account (near real-time). For the mean time, both accounts seem to be working. I have completely confused my self and need to do some more testing. I set up an IMAP account on my mac using no SSL, inbound as and outbound as. I think I have some circular configuration going on so I gotta think about this a little. The email account on my mac appears to be working as well together so far. This seems to be contradictory, confusing, and incorrect but I am able to reconcile my online inbox to the emails I send and receive on my droid. During one of my "fix it" attempts, I changed my mobile inbound to and left my mobile outbound as.
It appears as though my mobile is receiving and sending emails properly. I've tried so many different things that I kind of lost track as to where I stand at this point.
I got this to work on my Droid, so again, I couldn't be more grateful and hope this helps with those having similar troubles.Ĭlick to expand.I too appeared to have the problem of not receiving emails through my pop account after setting up my imap account on my droid.
